Frequently Asked Questions
1. I've never surfed and I'm scared of the ocean. Can I still join the Seasters Retreat?
Definitely! Seasters welcomes you, especially if you're new to surfing or apprehensive about the ocean. Our mission is to empower women to feel more secure and at ease in the ocean's embrace. We aim to assist you in overcoming your fears and learning new abilities, all while experiencing the joy of surfing within a community of encouraging and supportive women!
2. I'm currently feeling a bit off, but I'm eager to participate. Would this be suitable for me?
This retreat is precisely what you need if you're not feeling your best. It's an opportunity to step away from the hustle and bustle, allowing you to reconnect with yourself through support, love, and empowerment. It's designed to help you realign and rediscover your zest for life.
3. I already know how to surf; should I still consider attending this retreat?
Indeed, surfing is just one aspect of Seasters Retreats. We offer a variety of activities beyond surfing, including workshops and daily yoga sessions that aim to deepen your connection with yourself and enhance your physical well-being, thereby potentially improving your surfing skills. As well, we will be exploring different breaks or the same ones differently during our sessions. Moreover, we cater to various skill levels with our progressive surf retreats, offering experiences from beginners to more experienced surfers.
4. Is it okay if I bring my own surfboard to the retreat?
Absolutely! We actually encourage you to bring your own surfboard as you will feel a lot more comfortable surfing a board you are familiar with and which measures are ideal for you. Even though you can rent boards at Twin Palms Surf house, this will come at an extra cost.
5. I'm interested in the retreat but not in surfing. Can I skip the surfing part?
Absolutely, participation in surfing is not mandatory. The retreat is designed for you to tailor your experience as you wish. If surfing doesn't interest you, you can utilize the time allocated to surf trips to enjoy other activities (swimming, snorkeling, reading, journaling, relaxing, or bonding with other participants).
Surftrips will be allocated in the morning after the Yoga Practice, from there you can choose how to spend this time by engaging in other activities or simply exploring Thulusdhoo and its beautiful landscapes. After the surf we will dive into different activities among which yoga, workshops, snorkeling and much more!
6. What is the age range that this retreat caters to?
The retreat welcomes participants of all ages, ranging from 19 to 50 years old. It's a testament that it's never too late to pick up a new hobby or learn something new. As a matter of fact, I taught my mom and dad surfing, kiting and yoga many years after I
learned, when they were around 45 years old and now they love it and go surfing and practice yoga every single day!
7. I'm not in the best shape. Can I still manage to participate?
You don't need to be in peak physical condition to join us. Our retreat is inclusive of all fitness levels. The surf lessons trips are designed to be approachable, with the flexibility to engage fully or take breaks as needed. Surfing can be quite the workout, especially for those not used to regular physical activity, but it's greatly beneficial for your heart health. We recommend preparing your body by enhancing flexibility and strength in key areas like the hips, core, and shoulders to avoid injury.
As well our morning yoga will aid in this preparation and I will be by your side making sure you have the best experience and time in and out of the water!
We still recommend checking with your doctor in case of any specific conditions.
